Abstrak

Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) merupakan salah satu provinsi di Indonesia yang tidak memiliki potensi energi fosil. Hampir seluruh kebutuhan energi di Provinsi DIY seperti bahan bakar minyak (BBM), LPG dan listrik dipasok dari luar daerah. Mengingat Provinsi DIY mempunyai potensi energi alternatif seperti biomasa, energi angin, energi surya dan energi air maka potensi tersebut perlu dikembangkan. Hal ini sejalan dengan program nasional untuk menciptakan keamanan pasokan energi (energy security of supply) melalui pemanfaatan energi lokal. Dalam makalah ini akan dibahas prospek pemanfaatan energi alternatif tersebut melalui perencanan energi daerah Propinsi DIY untuk rentang waktu 2007-2025 dengan menggunakan model LEAP (Long–Range Energy Alternatives Planning System). LEAP merupakan perangkat lunak komputer untuk perencanaan energi dan sudah banyak digunakan di negara-negara berkembang karena fleksible dalam membuat simulasi kebijakan dan lisensinya dapat diperoleh secara gratis. Hasil dari model ini diharapkan dapat menjadi masukan dalam pengembangan teknologi energi di Provinsi DIY untuk jangka panjang. Disamping itu dapat membantu Pemerintah Daerah dalam membuat perencanaan energi daerah seperti diamanatkan dalam Undang Undang No 30 tahun 2007 tentang energi.

Abstract

The industrial sector is the largest consumer of commercial final energy in Indonesia today. Final energy consumption in industrial sector achieve 33% of the total national energy consumption or reached 300 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) in the year 2007. Of this amount approximately 6.5% or about 19 million BOE is used for pulp and paper industry. Characteristics of energy technologies that are used for pulp and paper industry depends on the type of process used. Outlined of process in this industry is divided into four groups, i.e: chemical and thermochemistry pulping, mechanical pulping, paper production, paper recycling. Each process requires a certain energy that can use fuels such as coal, oil, gas and electricity. Fuel is mainly used for steam generation. While the main use of electricity in this sector are electric motors. In line with the concept of sustainable development in the future will need to promote the use of technology that more energy efficient and environmental friendly. Cogeneration technology that generate steam and electricity simultaneously is an energy-efficient technologies that should be taken into account. Besides of renewable energy utilization such as biofuels and biomass waste, also needs to be promoted through an appropriate energy policies. In this paper will discuss each of the process of energy use in pulp and paper industry both from the aspects of technology and related to the sustainable development.

External Costs of Three Power Plants in Indonesia

Abstract

The Indonesian government in an effort to meet the ever growing national demand for energy has initiated both short and long term projects involving the building of power plants that continue to use fossil fuels with more than 60% using coal as fuel. This thesis estimates the external costs (i.e. the negative impacts on human health) the QUERI Model-Airpacts Program in the SimPacts software of three Indonesian power plants fueled by coal, oil and gas respectively. The external costs are then added to the investment, operational and maintenance costs to assess feasibility. The results clearly show that the oil-fired power plant has the greatest external costs and is the least profitable with the coal-fired power plant not far behind. Eventhough the gas-fired power plant is the most feasible, its NO2 emissions were extremely high having the greatest short term mortality rates. These results show that power plants using renewable energy sources so that both national economic productivity and each individual’s quality of life can be maintained will be more competitive in the long term than those that use non-renewable energy sources.

Mendidik Anak dan Berlaku Bijak

Pada lebaran tahun 2009, saya mampir di rumah makan daerah Pantura, Jawa Barat. Di situ saya dapat 2 lembar leaflet yang menurut saya sangat bagus. Tapi sayang tidak ada penulisnya siapa. Semoga penulisnya tidak keberatan kalau saya tulis ulang.  Berikut ini isinya:
